Zinc Nickel Coating (ZnNi Coating Systems)
Zinc nickel coating (ZnNi) is an advanced metal coating process preferred in automotive and heavy industry applications, providing much higher corrosion resistance compared to standard zinc coating systems. Thanks to its alloy structure containing especially 10% – 15% nickel, it provides long-lasting surface protection for parts exposed to aggressive environmental conditions.
In applications requiring resistance to high temperature, humidity, salt spray and chemical effects, ZnNi coating stands out as one of the most reliable solutions in terms of performance. Therefore, it is widely used especially in the automotive industry, as well as in fasteners and critical machine parts.
As Erkap Industrial Coating Solutions, we carry out high-volume production with repeatable quality using rack and barrel systems in our fully automatic zinc nickel coating facility.

Advantages of Zinc Nickel Coating
Zinc nickel coating provides long-term surface protection in harsh environmental conditions by offering up to 5 times higher corrosion resistance compared to conventional zinc coatings. Thanks to its alloy structure, homogeneous distribution is achieved on the coating surface while maintaining its performance even at high temperatures.
In addition, when used with passivation and topcoat systems, both corrosion resistance and surface functionality are maximized.
Zinc Nickel Coating Passivation Options
After zinc nickel coating, application-specific surface performance is achieved with different passivation options:
- Silver Passivation
- Cr+3 Blue Passivation
- Cr+3 Black Passivation
When used with suitable topcoat systems, the corrosion resistance and functional performance of the coating system are further enhanced. With passivation and topcoat systems, salt spray test performance of 720 hours and above is achieved.
Zinc Nickel Coating Application Areas
- Automotive parts
- Fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers)
- Hydraulic and pneumatic system components
- Parts exposed to high temperature and corrosive environments
- Industrial machine equipment
Zinc nickel coating offers a much longer-lasting solution compared to standard zinc coatings, especially in applications requiring high corrosion resistance and temperature durability. Preferred by automotive manufacturers, this system holds a critical position among modern surface coating technologies.
Why Erkap?
- Fully automatic ZnNi coating line
- Rack and barrel coating capability
- Repeatable quality in high-volume production
- Process management compliant with automotive standards
- Integrated solution with passivation and topcoat systems
As Erkap Industrial Coating Solutions, we use dip-spin technology in passivation and topcoat processes applied after zinc nickel coating to ensure homogeneous coating distribution and repeatable surface performance on fasteners. This system provides significant advantages especially in high-volume production by controlling coating thickness and minimizing quality differences between parts.
